Bushmaster ACR/Masada video

I've read a little bit about this rifle. Basically it's supposed to combine the best features of AR15s, AK47s, and other rifles and still be backwards compatible with some common AR15 parts like magazines and triggers. I'm curious to see what the final price will be on this rifle.

"Squared away"...Looks like a cool rifle. I also would be interested in what it's going for. I assume it's 5.56 mm.

I just hope they can get into our hands before the new goons take the white house Because I can fully see whoever it is wanting to "streamline" the gun ownership process within the first 100 days in office..

cant come out soon enuff....we are racing against the clock

Hmm.. interesting. :)

I notice he said the reciever was extruded ally, it looks like quite a complex shape, I wonder how they extrude that. The barrel with mated gas system was certainly interesting, never seen
that before.

What is the attraction for people for this particular gun over say an AR? Is it weight? Ease of cleaning?

He said extruded aluminum upper. That and this is another 5.56 platform. Will have to wait about 10-15 years for reviews...I can't afford to buy the latest flavor of the month.

*I guess it has steel rails that the bolt rides on, but still sounds shady to me. Doubt you'll see any of these setting endurance records, but I could be wrong.

Ah thanks, you are correct, it was upper not lower receiver, my bad. I also wondered about those steel rails and how they are secured into the ally upper. I don't know too much about rifles and auto/semi rifles and how much punishment they can take over their lifetime. Hate to shoot a few thousand rounds and find it's coming apart.

You are quite right in that this weapon hasn't been around long enough for people to find out how rugged it is yet. Only time will tell.

In saying that, they seem quite happy to modify it as required, to improve the design, as long as they keep evolving the weapon it will get better and better. The basic design seems sound and that's the main thing.

Guns are rapidly superceded nowadays by newer and better designs, often due to more advanced materials and manufacturing processes. For civilian users, 5 years is probably long enough for a particular gun. Unless of course you are an AK officianado. :)

Military purchasers may be looking for a service life more along the lines of 15 or 20 years that can literally be used to smash stakes into the ground with, so they will be more picky about what they want.

I had an AR once, dirtiest gun I ever owned. I'd shoot 200 rounds and spend an hour cleaning it. I have an XCR now, I can put 500 rounds down the tube and you'd never know it.

Thanks for that... it's probably why.

Were you using steel cased ammo or coated steel case ammo?

Upper/receiver/upper receiver are all the same thing...I just thought you were saying it was an allOy in your earlier post, but it seems like it's JUST aluminum...that can't stand up to punishment any better than a coke can...imo.

*ETA it may in fact be an alloy, but not according to the fellow in the vid.

Aluminum as far as I know is always alloyed in serious applications for strength, I would certainly hope it is an alloy. Particularly as it is an extruded part, and not a forged one.
